Jeff Cook, Certified Graduate Remodeler

Jeff graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Arizona State University.
He worked in the summers on a residential framing crew while he was in college and for the first couple years that he taught at a private Christian school. During this time, he felt a strong desire to go into the residential remodeling field, and after ten years of construction experience he started his own company, Cook Carpentry and Remodeling in 1979.
Since that time he has done over 1000 construction projects of various types, from golf cart garages to 2nd floor additions, from casitas to a 2200 square foot custom home.
He currently is involved with estimates, sales, drawing/permits, production management and quality control.
He continues his professional development by attending the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and National Home Builders seminars and is a Certified Graduate Remodeler .
Jeff really enjoys taking client's dreams of customizing their homes to fit their needs and desires, and providing quality workmanship. Because customer service and satisfaction is a priority, he is known for being really flexible if clients make changes while a project is in process.
This past Spring, Jeff helped Maggie's Place remodel a home in Tempe to provide housing for unwed mothers.




Janet B. Cook, dJM, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist

Janet B. Cook, dJM graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Nebraska. She has worked as a Special Educator, Speech Pathologist, and Educational Director of a juvenile residential facility taking her to Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Massachusetts before making Arizona her home. She also has had 5 years experience working as a downtown hotel manager, has managed 2 retail stores, and has had five years experience in sales and customer service--being recognized as employee of the year in an organization of over 25 in 1996.
When she married Jeff in 1998, it was obvious that the company's reputation had exceeded Jeff's capacity to run the business by himself. To build the business, Janet resigned working as a Family Service Counselor to contribute her skills to meet the increasing demand for Cook Remodeling's services by providing employment opportunities in a great place to work. She incorporated the business, and the company has gone from one employee to 20 full time employees, and have more than tripled the capacity of production in 5 years. Her ongoing focus is team building by communication and development of operational systems to improve administrative efficiency and excellent customer care.
Janet annually attends at least two Remodeling/Kitchen Shows run by national professional organizations, and has taken many hours of classes at each of the 7 trade shows she has attended thus far. She has a particular interest in kitchen and bath design, and is working on becoming an Associate Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler. Janet is now a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist through the National Association of Home Builders University, having completed all the requirements to make homes universal in design for all conditions. "The goal is for all homes to be accessible on the first floor whether one is in a stroller or wheelchair. We all experience change as we age, and by planning ahead, one can make the home more functional and safe." She also has completed all the course requirements to have an Associate Certified Graduate Remodeler designation.
Janet is involved with administrative operations and management, plan design proposals, marketing, research and development, client and employee care.
Having a passion to make this world a better place, Janet is a trained on-call lobbyist for the United Nations and is very active in promoting pro-life, pro-family policies. She is a devoted volunteer at her Church and community doing things as: personal crises and grief counseling, Life Teen and juvenile prison ministry, ministering to the home bound and singing in the choir. She is looking for the opportunity to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity so she can get hands on experience building a home for a family in need.
Janet has an interest in health and nutrition, as well as creating gourmet "raw/living" food dishes. She loves dancing, reading, plays (with no offensive content as well as edited movies), the outdoors, bird songs, and taking pilgrimages/going on spiritual retreats.

Carl E. Annen
Project Manager
Carl E. Annen is a Wisconsin native. He learned the building trade while helping and working with his father building homes and doing remodeling projects. After he graduated from high school in Middleton, Wisconsin, he worked with a builder until the man retired. Then he was employed at Oscar Mayer in Madison, Wisconsin for 30 years in Management. There he worked in supervision and production scheduling until 1996 so knows and understands "Customer Service".
He also owned and maintained several apartment buildings. Woodworking has always been a hobby along with the game of golf.
For 20 years he was active in the Stoughton Lions Club and was interested in the fund raising projects.
In 1999 he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Sun Lakes. He remained retired until recently being emplolyed with Cook Remodeling. Their only daughter and grandson moved to Chandler in 2005.



Karen Anderson
Bookkeeper
Karen graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She spent six years working as a legal assistant for a law firm in Lincoln, Nebraska. Karen moved to Florida and worked as a Claims Examiner for several years, relocating to Indiana where she was promoted to Supervisor. She then moved to Chandler. Becoming a Mom, she left the corporate world and dedicated herself to her three children. Now that they are all in school, she enjoys working part-time at Cook Remodeling. Her personal interests include spending time with her family, hiking, and all Arizona has to offer. She also enjoys volunteering at Church.



Kevin Shepler
Lead Carpenter
Employee of the Year 2004
Kevin had worked for 15 years in his father's business, Master Builders, when his father retired. We are blessed that he came to work for "Cook Remodeling" in 2001. Kevin started in this industry taking building trade classes and building a home his senior year in high school. After graduation he built 4-plexes for retirees. He took college courses to become certified as a Rescue Squad Volunteer, receiving training in fire fighting, extrications, C.P.R., and first aid. He volunteered in Missouri for seven years until he moved to Arizona.
Kevin's strengths include his ability to make additions look like they were originally built with the house. He is very dependable, responsible, and knowledgeable. He really enjoys meeting new people, and doing custom projects fit for each individual.



Daniel Mosher
Painter
After he finished school in Oklahoma, Daniel moved to Arizona and started painting in 1994. During slow times, he took jobs doing landscaping, diesel mechanics, and welding so he was never without work. His standard is to do whatever needs to be done to the best of his ability. Daniel says he paints houses as if they were his own. He enjoys fishing, hunting, camping, prospecting, and playing with his bird and cat. He also enjoys listening and gaining the benefit of learning from other's experiences.



Sean Ramseier
AutoCAD drafter
Sean Ramseier joined the team as our AutoCAD drafter/ carpenter’s helper in 2003. That same year, he graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S.D. in Architecture. He has contributed valuable input to solve quandaries in both the field and office. His time here has proven to be a mutual benefit in that he has gained real world experience of the construction trades and has provided an enthusiastic attitude that is infectious to co-workers. Sean enjoys spending his free time reading novels, attending any place with live music, and wrenching on his old mustang. Sean is in his second year of Graduate School.



Vern Quevil
Job Site Inspector
Employee of the Year 2006
Vern is our Job Site Inspector, his position being created in 2002. He grew up in Minnesota, obtained a business administration degree, and worked as a field auditor for a large grocery chain for nine years. He then worked for the Colorado Department of Social Services setting up offices in several cities, supervising over 100 employees for 14 years. He was a property manager for a 12 unit townhouse and duplex for 13 years. He and his wife of twenty-six years Eva, moved to Sun Lakes in 1997 and did volunteer work for "Neighbors Who Care", assisting senior homeowners, and continues to volunteer for the church they attend. His references raved on how helpful, trustworthy, friendly and reliable he is. We are confident he is an asset to all our clients as he is in charge of monitoring the order, cleanliness, safety and security of the job sites.
