Jeff Cook, Founder, C.E.O.

Jeff resigned from teaching at a private Christian school to pursue his passion for home improvement. Jeff remembers from the start of working in construction he had such a good feeling at the end of the day seeing what had been accomplished, that he went all out doing remodeling. From his days of passing out flyers door-to-door to offer our services, to now owning a nationally recognized remodeling firm, Jeff still takes great pride in knowing that his customers are satisfied from the results of bringing good people to their project. Jeff is disciplined in prayer and exercise, eating healthy, being “green”, and sharing life with his wife, Janet.

Janet B. Cook, President

From Educational Director to retail & hotel management, Janet’s life experiences have been preparing her for the challenge of growing the business to meet the ever-increasing demand for Cook Remodeling’s services. Janet has an entrepreneurial spirit and she is also a health coach, who helps people have more energy as they look and feel better by making one simple change.

What does Janet have in common with Katherine Hepburn? Spasmodic Dysphonia.

What sounds like laryngitis is actually involuntary spasms of her vocal folds during speech. Despite how she sounds, she feels fine!

Lory Horn

Office Manager
Bachelors Degree, Arizona State University                

Lory grew up in Mesa and her skills in the organization were apparent from an early age when she was on the Newspaper and Yearbook staff during high school! Lory studied Business and Psychology at ASU and after graduation worked as a Legal Assistant where she had a multitude of responsibilities. Most recently she has worked in Benefit & HR Consulting and Account Management. With over 12 years in executive and office management, Lory is a valuable member of the Cook Remodeling team!

Karen Anderson, Controller

Karen works diligently to make certain the company’s finances are on the mark. Karen takes pride in ensuring billing is accurate, customers get the best prices for materials, and employees and vendors are paid on time. Although customers rarely see her, they appreciate her attention to detail in keeping their job on budget.

Karen first realized she was meant for a career in Accounting when she was 6 years old and was concerned about the cost of groceries while shopping with her mother. She has worked at a law firm, an insurance company as a claims adjuster, and was later promoted to supervisor. Karen’s strengths are accuracy and attention to detail – making everybody’s lives easier at Cook Remodeling! Karen loves the outdoors, whether hiking, biking or swimming. Never afraid of a challenge, she’s hiked the Grand Canyon, rim to rim, THREE times!

Patrick Kieran

Sales / Design
U.S Army – E-4 Specialist                  

Patrick grew up in Wendell, Idaho where he played High School Football. Before starting his career in the design industry, Patrick enlisted in the U.S Army as a Mechanic, E-4 Specialist. Before joining the Cook Remodeling team, Patrick owned his own remodeling business. This experience, drive and passion has made him a valuable member! He has a strong ability to bond with clients and performs his work with confidence.

Natalie Walker, Project Designer

Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Sciences, University of Arizona
10 + Experience in design and customer service

Natalie was born in Denver and moved to Phoenix after growing up in Boise, Idaho. She obtained her Consumer Sciences degree in 2003 from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Natalie continues to work on her many qualifications and is obtaining her Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer Certification.

Natalie’s biggest passion is inspiring ideas and solving problems as a designer. She strives to give her best to everyone, every day.  She is excited to join the team at Cook Remodeling and  being involved with full home reconstruction.

Natalie lives with her 2 year old Maltese-Shih-Tzu named “Boo”.  She is a huge animal lover and says that if she were to win the lottery she would donate to an Animal Rescue organization in need.

Joshua Bombard, Project Manager

15 years of experience

Josh developed his passion for home improvement back in first grade when he helped his father remodel their family house. In high school, Josh built stage props for his high school theater troupe and continued down the same path after graduation, when he went to work as a carpenter.

Josh moved to Phoenix with his fiancée, from the suburbs of Chicago in 2013 to pursue greater career opportunities. It was here he came to work for Cook Remodeling and Josh loves the high-end work he is involved in. He loves the challenge of making all the pieces of the remodeling project fit together to create a functional and elegant end result.

As a child Josh used to enjoy wrestling but now he prefers hiking, target shooting, gold panning, and tinkering in his garage. Josh spends his free time with his fiancée and his 2 adorable dogs, which he admits are spoiled rotten!

Kevin Shepler, Master Carpenter

Employee of the Year 2004, 2005

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Kevin has spent the last 30 years in Arizona. Kevin started taking construction classes in high school, developing carpentry skills and a promising vocation. He has experience in building homes, 4-plexes, and many years of home remodeling. Kevin took college classes to become a certified Rescue Squad Volunteer, where he served the community for seven years. Kevin worked for 15 years in his father’s home improvement and renovation business, Master Builders, until his father retired.

Kevin’s strengths include his ability to make additions look like they were originally built with the house. He is very dependable and knowledgeable. He enjoys meeting new people, and doing custom remodeling projects fit for each individual. He notes his friendships made at Cook Remodeling over the years the best part of working at our company! He loves to garden when not transforming Cook Remodeling client’s houses into the home of their dreams.

Arne Richardson

Bachelors Degree, South Dakota State University              

Arne grew up in Sturgis, South Dakota and spent his summers in high school helping on farms, and driving tractors. He has worked in construction for residential remodeling but has over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Fun Fact – Arne is a Certified Sommelier! It is this experience that makes him such a team player at Cook Remodeling, and he is known for his diligence, communication, honesty and hard work!

Todd Zaleski


After graduating Apache Junction High School, Todd tried various odd jobs and ended up in Santa Cruz, California in the structural moving industry, hauling houses from their foundations with his bare hands. While there’s not as much heavy lifting for Todd at Cook, he works just as hard if not harder using the experience he gained working to rebuild homes. On his days off, he enjoys watching the Arizona Cardinals, hanging out with his lovely wife Toni, and teaching their two-year-old son Tatum how to swim.

Ben Ray


Born in Indiana, Ben entered the general contracting industry at a young age with no hesitation, experience or tools at first. Fast forward to the present, Ben loves the energy at Cook. He loves the work ethic, the wholehearted commitment to wowing homeowners by transforming their houses into utopias they never want to leave. In his spare time, Ben can be found lending a helping hand to the town of Gilbert—whatever they need done—or rooting for the Cubbies.
