Effective Strategies for Weight Loss

The top New Year’s resolution is about better health: eating healthier, exercising more, losing weight. Many have a firm resolve get in better shape and they believe that one’s determination is key for results. However, after ending the special diet, they gain the weight back sometimes gaining more than they lost! They feel like they failed when in reality the method was not sustainable and didn’t deal with the underlying causes. There is hope!

Weight gain is more than just consuming excess calories (excluding causes from certain diseases, certain drugs, or a hormone imbalance). There are other reasons we gain fat that need to be addressed. In the early 1960’s the rate of obesity was 4%.  Now the number of Americans that are overweight or obese keeps increasing and is up to 67.4% of the population (CDC.gov 2021 stats). What has changed since then that could be a factor that has made obesity an epidemic?

Our bodies are made for a plant-based diet, and about 80% of our health depends on the nutrition we consume. In the 1950’s toxic pesticides were introduced harming the soil and lowering nutritional content of crops. Today we would need to eat 25 peaches to get the same amount of nutrition from a peach grown before pesticides! So now we need 7-13 cups of fruits and vegetables of all colors every single day for good health.  Concurrent to the introduction of toxic chemicals being sprayed on the plants we eat and contaminating our water, there are more processed foods available which are stripped of nutrients AND contains toxic chemical preservatives, flavorings, coloring, and added refined sugar (read labels!). The lack of nutrition weakens the body’s ability to process out the toxic chemicals, so the body stores it in fat to protect us until we are nutritionally strong enough to do a detox. The burden of accumulated stored toxins leads to dis-ease.

So, if one is not eating the recommended servings of 9-13 cups of fruits and vegetables every day, and then adds a calorie restrictive plan, the body experiences a famine. That’s why when the diet is over, the body may try to add extra fat to keep the toxins shrouded in case there is another famine!  I have tried various ways to lose weight without success, until I learned about this cause and found an effective solution, a hybrid combination of Shred10, and Maintain for Life program.
